I for one don't give one crap who gets up the hill faster with 18,000 lbs behind it. I didn't order my gooseneck/fifthwheel package soon enough so I had to wait 3 weeks for it since it was backordered. In the mean time, I had 2 camping trips set, so I borrowed my buddies 2008 d-max. My camper is roughly 8200 loaded. I got 8.7 mpg both trips, which is irrelevent. The chevy had so many rattles that it drove my wife nuts. With 25,000 miles and being babied, I expected a lot better ride. My 2006 cummins had 48,000 hard miles and didn't have a single creak or squeak. So to me, if the rest of the truck can't take minimal abuse, why?

first time i've heard of a chevy with so few of miles with all the squeaks and rattles like you say, i'm not saying it's not possible, there are those trucks in every manufacturers pool, i think the truck you're talking about has been abused rather than babied though, and 8.7? were you going 90 the whole way? they aren't the most efficient trucks out there but what did he have? 400hp injectors? lowest I've ever gotten while towing modest in a duramax was 11 and for load I couldn't complain

When I say babied, I mean babied, not abused. If I meant abused, that is what I would have said. He is very easy on his trucks. Always clean, never gets on it when accelerating. Drives like a grandpa. Only aftermarket he puts on is steps, tonneau, visors. Yes 8.7 at 60-65 mph. I have another buddy that has an 06 d-max that is very hard on stuff and said his was a rattle box after 10,000 miles. Just saying. Most people say that dodges are rattle boxes, but mine had zero rattles or squeaks after 48,000 miles. Just saying.

ok you win the new ford 6.7 is the best engine out there and no other truck even compares and the cummins and duramax are junk and ford has dominated the diesel power wars forever and ever and always had the most reliable cheapest to upgrade platform, and never once has a cab rattled that ford produced nor has any engine they've ever made gotten below 40 miles per gallon while towing 100,000 pounds going 75 uphill everywhere

Wow your intelligent. See I can use sarcasm too.

I posted my experience with chevy, ford, and dodge. All of the chevies were faster to rattle than the others then the dodge. Sorry if I hurt someones feelings. So sorry that the chevy got 8.7 mpg too. I guess I should have hired someone to pull me so I could tell you it was better. By the way I have another buddy with a 2004 d-max (that rattles) that gets 22 mpg going 70 empty. I personally do not like chevies due to my experience. My bad.
