Upcoming Purchase 6.0 vs 6.4!?
Guys, I'm really sorry to even post this as I know it's been beaten to death. I've searched and read and searched some more and read some more...
I'm looking at several trucks right now, all PSD's. A couple '06's and '07's and a couple '08's with the 6.4. I prefer the style of the '08 and how quiet and powerful they are. However, I'm terrified to purchase one (especially used!) after reading the horror stories about poor mpg and other problems. At the same time I see some of you are really, really happy with your 6.4's.
Anyone care to lend me some advice?
For what it's worth, the truck will be a everyday driver and tow a small Toy Hauler a couple times a month over some mountains. I know any diesel I purchase will be more than capable of pulling the load (easily...) I'm just trying to avoid any unnecessary headaches along the way.
Thanks for your advice...

I have had some issues with mine, but know alot of people that love them. The mileage isn't that good but there are things you can do to improve it quite a bit. big-angry-hillbilly is gettin pretty good mpg out of his. They got the power to pull. I got a 30' toy hauler and the few times I've pulled it just walked the dog. They are very comfortable to ride in too. Hope this is the kind of opinion you were lookin for. Good luck on your purchase!

Thanks for the replies guys... and YES, those are exactly the kind of replies I was wanting.
I've noticed big-angry-hillbilly seems to be very, very happy with his.
I went down and drove an '08 today. Nice truck for sure... I was going to drive an '06 also but the damn battery was dead.
I soooooooooooooo want the '08 for the interior but right now I'm leaning toward a 6.0. It seems they're more proven and I'll get better mileage all while saving A LOT of $$.
It's pretty likely I'm going to purchase one this weekend so I'm still very open to suggestions.
Thanks everyone and I appreciate the replies on such an over-asked question.
