Default Intermittent Heater Temp control

Heat not working right? You put it on cold and it blows hot or vice versa? Your blend door actuator is likely at fault. So I figured this was common enough on the 2008-10 Superduties to make a video of the temp blend door actuator replacement. It involves pulling some pieces of the dash that many may not be comfortable with, if you follow my video I will walk you through it. Hope this helps!

makuloco2000,

Thanks for the video!

I have a 2008 F350 manufactured 07/07, and it has the same "manual" temperature set-up/dash as shown in the video.

To clarify; It is NOT a dual climate control version.

When I have the A/C on "dash vents only" I get A/C from the driver/center/passenger vents as well as the floor vents.

The truck has the same problem when the heater is switched to "floor vents only" - I get heat from the floor vents as well as the driver/center/passenger dash vents.

How many blend motors are in this truck - I've read it to be 1 from some guys, and 3 from others

With the conditions I'm experiencing, how many blend motors do I need to replace and which ones are they?

Thanks in advance,
fast_dave in the PRK

There is only one temp blend actuator on a manual setup. As far as the air coming out multiple vents would you say it is not right and there is allot coming from the vent in floor only mode? There will always be some bleed over and the bleed over will be worse at higher mph too. Go from floor to vent to defrost at medium to high blower speed does the air change from one vent to another at all? Is there a noticeable sounds change of the rushing air as it changes? Is there clicking of the actuator as you change positions (check for this at low blower speed). Also you can look at the actuator its above the accelerator pedal and see if it moves each time you change the position. Reason I ask is I have never seen anything but blend door actuators go bad on these but this one is also electronically actuated and controls all three modes.
