Or simply turned to the "lock" position as well... but yeah, basically the front hubs are still engaged, just not connected through the transfer case until you turn the dial on the dash.

Have you proven they are turning? What leads you to think they are?

It is normal for the entire front drive system, or parts, to freewheel rotate in 2HI on any 4x4. Clutch fans freewheel rotate when they aren't engaged. Where its an issue is when you turn on the hard top and the steering wheel kicks like it does in 4HI/LO.

Raise truck and front shafts is turning, hubs not engaged, I would think that when in 2 wheel transfer would not been engaged? Dealer says something not right? Had oil change done but they wanted it back Monday. Also front wheel, when turning right I hear clicking like stone in tire, they say front bearing band seals?

What does it do when you hand rotate front drive shaft on the ground? It should move freely with hubs unlocked in 2HI.

Could be a unit bearing/uni-bearing making clicking noise. Less likely would be that u-joint in the steering axle.

Unit bearings are not that hard to change. Disconect hub hose and electric stuff. Remove rotor, caliper, ball joint at steering knuckle, 4 bolts from back side of steering knuckle, re-install rotor backwards with 4 LOOSE lug nuts, use rotor as slide hammer to pull axle shaft, then disassemble hub. From here, depending on how corroded onto the axle shaft the bearing is, it may be easier to take shaft/s to machine shop to have bearings pressed off/on.
