Default High egts

Still trying to figure this one out...

I can be cruising 50mph in overdrive ease on the throttle still in overdrive and easily see 1000*

Tried my buddies intake setup to see if I wasn't getting enough air, but still the same... Check all connections and cac tubes and connections and were all good...

What else would cause high egts?

Are you seeing normal boost psi? Is their excessive soot out the tail pipe when pulling out? Have you checked the up-pipe/y-pipe flex joints? Any codes, using a GOOD scan tool? Is it a early or late '04?

Did you remove the CAC boots to inspect them, sometimes they can rip just underneath the clamp where you can't see unless you remove them. Start with the 45* boot coming off the turbo, that one is usually the that fails.

Could be sticking VGT vanes, VGT actuator, cracked flex joints, CAC boot damage, MAP hose damaged, MAP hose fitting at intake and hose clogged with soot, EBP tube clogged.

If you have a early '04, did you have the batteries disconnected for a prolong time, you might want to try a VGT relearn.

Is this with tuning too? Is 1000* supposed to be a lot? How long are you on the throttle? I roll into it all the time with the TC locked up and can easily see more than that, but I'm on a race tune. When the timing kicks in hard temps really go up quick.

That's stock tunning! And cruzing, the rolling into it is just to stay at same speed going up a slight hill...

Maybe it isn't high but I'm not sure... But it hangs around 800-1100* cruzing...

Well it sounds high for stock tuning. Are you getting any smoke at all when you're doing this? What are your boost readings?

*** Oh wait, you have an 04 with no boost gauge don't you?

No I got a boost gauge, my boost number are low... Remember I got the 2 stroke problem and that the only time I see white smoke and it only does it past 1,500 rpms until I let off and let it shift.. Then it goes away...

It does it every time I shut it off... Go to take off down the road, does the 2 stroke, let off let it shift gears and clears up... After that it might do it 1-2 times but then runs fine...

Replaced gpcm..(which was bad) only thing I can guess now would be my injectors don't like the valvoline I'm running...

No codes

I wished I knew how to make videos so I could record it...

Which sensor is the map? That's on the intake on the drives side right?

What's "low" for boost? If your boost is low, your turbo needs a cleaning, or you have a leak somewhere, or even more possible is the EBP sensor and tube. Has that ever been taken off and cleaned?

Your FICM is definitely good too?

What valvoline you running? I just put some Valvoline in myself, their non synthetic 15w-40, and my truck hates it. Looking at switching it out early because it makes it start like such poo. Seems to make stiction worse, even with 2 bottles of rev-x in.

It is very hard to make over 15psi...I can't seem to find any leaks anywere... I did take off the ebp and tube and cleaned it, maybe it just needs a new one?

Yes my ficm test out good... Except I did notice when moniter ing it, it fluctuates between 47-48 and when it does the idle changes ( like it surges) power to it stays the same...

Oil change sticker says diesel 15w40... And I changed the filter to motorcraft... And it has 2 bottles of rev-x

I also just cleaned the turbo when I put the updated feed and drain lines on... Unison ring has some pitting but not bad, cleaned it up best I could...

My truck is the biggest turd I have ever owned until it hits 2,000-2,500 rpm... It's got a real bad lag on take offs...

And it still will not power brake!!! I've held it for over 30 seconds and the tires won't budge!!!

I got smoked by a 6cyl mustang!!!!

PIMP DOWN! PIMP IN DISTRESS! Getting smoked by a V6 Mustang is horrible. But good on'ya for having the moral fiber to admit it.

Sorry, it was too easy. Seriously though, I didn't pay attention to EGTs when #8 stuck open on me, but could this 2 stroke condition, low boost and high EGT be one or more injectors having issues? Also, unless I had my Edge cranked to 5 or 6, it was hard to get the tires to spin, I'd even bounce it to try to x-fer some weight to the front. My SCT with an SRL tune RUINS those BFGs when I two foot it in 2HI (HINT HINT).

That's my guess but it's not showing anything on the cylinder contribution test...

I'm not afraid to admit it I'd put my pay check on an ford escort that it would smoke my truck!!!!

That's why it's forsale... I've had it since January and still can't find anything out!!!

Icp vs icp is good, ipr test good, no codes, ficm test good hot and cold, ebp was clogged so cleaned it and tube a few weeks ago, cleaned air intake sensor 1 on intake tube, cleaned air filter, new fuel filters ( international) fresh oil and filter( valvoline diesel 15w40 with motor craft filter and 2Bottles rev x), fuel pressure is good...

It's driving me nuts!!!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And I'm supposed to trust this truck to get me and my old lady and the house 2,000 miles to Utah!!
