Default egr cooler vs delete questions

i have an 03 f350 6.0 with 95k miles and im getting egr codes again after i deleted them and cleaned the egr. in the oasis report it says that its had an egr replaced twice but never the cooler so here are my questions

does a egr delete have any mpg/hp gains

if i go with the bullet proof cooler is mine the square or round one

im in california if i go with a delete does any one know where i could get it smogged if you catch my drift

the codes came after i installed my mbrp straight pipe could it be throwing these codes because ive had a really heavy foot lately?

thanks guys

so i just pulled my egr off and checked inside there is soot like normal but there was a glob of what looked like grease so im not sure if my cooler is leaking but i have no idea what that grease thing is??? it was about the size of a dime btw.

Hey the 03 coolers rarely if at go bad it just doesn't happen , if your in cal leave it alone or weld it shut then it appears to be stock but don't know if it will pass sniff. But really you can't hardly tell a diff when its gone . And also need to leave EGR valve in and plugged in to keep fan operational. A lot of people don't know that one.

The '03's have the round EGR cooler. Another thing with unplugging the EGR valve is, with the '03-early 04's if your running a VXAP strategy the VGT will not go thru the vane cycle when at idle.

If you found any sort of wetness in there, the cooler is leaking. Do something about it sooner than later. If I was in Cali, I'd either do the BPD bulletproof cooler, yours would be round, but I'm pretty sure you can use either cooler in there... or just take yours out and have some stainless plugs welded into it to close it off. That way it's "blocked" but visually it's still there.

Yep, get some stainless plates cut in a circle to fit in there. You can even use freeze plugs, but on the exhaust side make sure you fill that sucker up with weld, cause the freeze plug wont take the heat alone.

I took mine out too. Haven't had it in for some time. Thought about putting mine back too, IDK. You can either just plug it in and zip tie it out of the way, or just put it back in the intake, it wont make a difference there is no way for exhaust to get to it anymore. Might as well just drop it back in the intake manifold and bolt it down at that point.
