Thats only like an inch bigger than stock. More the question is what brand. I eat them up like they are too soft. Have goodyears now had coopers neither one seems to last or i just drive too much. Im saying in 15000 they are junk i rotate and make sure psi is good every month. I need new ones again so any input would be great.

I put twenty four gallons every time i stop a truck stop and i know she wont go much more than 340 miles till the light is on. Good to know i have 29 gallons that extra gallon may make a diffrence one day. So i know i have five gallons when light comes on. I fill it till it almost spills out so i know its full. I live in Vermont fuel is hard to come buy a a cheap price. What type of power are we talking out of this tuning? I pull a five thousand pound trailer through mtns weekly id like to not even know its there. Sounds like i need to get it tuned after i get i back. Do you know what size tire i can squeeze under it stock? What tires are good for a lot of miles? I seem to get a year and a half if lucky.

What type of power do you want out of tuning? You can't tow on a really hot tune, or at least it's not advised. They do make some really nice towing tunes though, they'll firm up your transmission quite a bit and allow some real good use of that turbo like an exhaust brake. I LOVE towing with my aggressive tow tune from Innovative Diesel. I always use this when towing my camper (maybe 5k lbs when loaded up). A hot race tune will be in the 420/430 rwhp range and almost 800 ft/lbs. However, there are quite a few preventative things you'd need to do before diving in. Gauges are one main thing. Get your truck running first and we can go down this road...
A towing tune would do you wonders though. Keeps the converter locked up a lot longer, holds gears longer, uses the turbo as an exhaust brake, really lets you use your truck to fully take control of the load behind you. I have even towed a few times on a street tune, it's almost too much power for towing on public roads. Gets the trailer up and moving in a hurry. My tow tune I've had my camper accelerating up the hills in the adirondacks, I let off at 70mph and EGT's were still only about 1100*. I was amazed at how well it pulled up the hill. I've even passed a few cars with the camper behind me. The look on the face of the people getting passed is usually pretty funny. Not that I'd recommend that kind of driving...
As for tires, what are you using now? I just put some Pro-Comp extreme A/T's on mine, they have a 40k mile warranty and are made in USA.
Yessir, that's what I'm rocking now. 2.5" billet spring spacer up front (leveling kit) and stock F350 blocks in the rear (350 blocks are a little taller than 250 blocks). 35x12.5x17's.

The best tires I have used were the stock size and brand on my 04, they are the BF Goodrich rugged Trail, had 2 sets of them both lasted for 120,000 miles and only changed because it was close to winter and wanted deeper tread to make sure I wouldn't get stuck. There are several ways to get good mileage out of these trucks, exhaust mods is a quick way to make an increase and with a good tuner it can be done, just have to keep our foot out of it, a little romp every now and then isn't bad though, helps keep the turbo clean. I have 253k on my truck and still get 20mpg normally, took a trip fot the Daytona 500 this year and managed to get 24mpg at 75mph, I have the 29gal tank too and fillit to the brim everytime, normally go 500 miles and put 25 gal in it. does your truck have 373 gears or 410s that will make a big difference too.

Bob wouldn't BS us. He's one of very few I'd trust. He is also running an 03 with (I'm assuming) older programming, which helps and he daily drives on a race tune, so the converter is locked up all the time, which is a lot more efficient as well.

you have to drive with a light foot and no cruise control, lift to keep it at speed when going down hill and lift so you bareley need the brakes when exiting, i run on level 4 with the Edge, Amsoil in motor and diffs. 80psi in rears and 70 psi in fronts. on long trips i drive like an old man, yes, but it sure sounds good going down the road. I know a budddy of mine with a later 04 lost 3 or 4 mpg when dealer reflashed his truck so I never let them do that to my truck, only one done was to eliminate the EBP sensor, find out what that one was and get that tuning. Normal driving to work and back home I get 20 mpg almost all highway and usually about 45 to 60 miles one way.
