Driving With Bad Head Gaskets

I went to a good mom an pop shop.. turbo clean,egr delete,oil cooler cleaned, an all the juicies back in for 1350.. but i had a tow an new radiator put in.. thats why it was 2000....
I didn't have the 4500 to do the hole job.. So i was hop pen it was just the egr that was bad.. but luck wasn't on my side this time.. I've been driving it for the last day an coolant is getting pushed out of the bottle..but the coolant hasn't moved at all.. from what i can tell.. I'm not burning any.. i did 180 miles trip today too... what do you guys think about that?

Have you tried putting a new coolant cap on? They say once they've pushed coolant a bit, they need to be replaced. You can get one from Napa for about $5. I'd try that first.
Mine is doing this now, EGR deleted, new cap, just pushes out a bunch of pressure but doesn't actually push much coolant out. My headgaskets are shot, I know that. Waiting for a time on the lift to tear her down and do it the right way. I think I have about ~$1k in parts right now, including machine shop services on a spare set of heads. I will be doing a full write up for it when it finally gets done...

When you say the head gasket is bubbling im assuming gasses are coming out of your coolant tank thus creating bubbles. I personally would check this my self to make sure the shop isn't trying to take you for a ride. I'm not sure if the same goes for diesel but on a gas engine you would start the truck and pull the cap off the coolant tank while the engine is cold look inside the coolant tank to see if its bubbling also look for oil as well on the inner walls of the tank and cap.
If its bubbling then ya your head gasket is toast or you have a crack somewhere in the engine.
If it does have a blown head gasket then I wouldnt drive it at all. If gasses are escaping the engine through the cooling system then then coolant is escaping through the engine which will cause a whole mess of problems.
Three things you could do
1. Do the head gasket your self. There are a few write ups to walk you through it
2. Call a few shops and get some quotes and have them do it.
3. Go on craiglist and see what similar trucks are going for in your area subtract the cost of repairs and sell it.
If you get it done do the head studs to ensure you never run into this problem again.
I feel for you man I hope the day never comes when I meet this fork in the road..

Ok.. my egr cooler took a ****.. so when that gos it blows coolant out the cap. Just like a bad HG.. So that must do something the cap I'm guessing..

Ohhhhhh I see now. Haha I bet u were shitting bricks thinking your HG was shot haha. Could you imagine if you went through and did the HG job and after all the workfind out it was just the cap hahaha. That would of sucked but things like that happen all the time. Glad to hear its not the HG though what a reliefs you must feel

Correct, the cap has excess pressure and coolant blowing out of it for how many miles... it eventually just fatigues the cap. The cap is still a mechanical part and we know they can fail. Sometimes it is just that simple. Rarely, but it does happen!
Any time any of you replace an EGR cooler, or headgaskets after the truck has been puking, you're supposed to replace that cap. Some guys replace the cap and the bottle. I've seen the bottles crack and split and leak coolant simulating a blown headgasket situation too.
