yea, the buzz test and cylinder contribution are the only two i've seen on a scan tool, and i've used quite a few different scanners. unless your using factory diagnostics or something like that (good luck getting that) then i dont know what they call their tests.

Hit, tap, something like that, during the test you could hear each injector as the make a clicking noise as the laptop selected it. Call it what you want, the bad injector was found without turning a wrench using a computer.

That's a buzz test. Same idea as when you turn the key in the morning, you can hear all of them buzz from the FICM driving them. The buzz test on the labtops just do each injector singularly so it can narrow down and see which are bad, electrically. That will typically only work for an electrical issue on the injector though. Mechanically, you'd have to do the cylinder contribution test.

All I really remember was a clicking noise and a the tech saying "ok we're done" "we are? did that fix it?" "no, you're injector failed..." $1200 later my truck was running great!

Buzz, tap, hit, sorry for the confusion, I have WAY too many projects at home.

No worries Karl, we knew what you were talking about, and I've heard dozens of different terminology from different people.
