Default Won't start

I have a 2005 f350 diesel 6.0 I went out of town for a weak got back went to start my truck but the batteries were dead so I called a wrecker company to come out an give me a jump we tried for bout an hour an nothing. Sounds like it wants to but just won't I'm gonna try an put new batteries in. I am getting smoke out exhaust when I try to start it though. Any ideas?

If you're getting smoke then the injectors are firing, so probably not a battery issue, though if they're dead I'm sure new one's will help.

We need more info, please read the sticky at the top of the page for "new guys" and create a new post with that info, that will help us diagnose your truck.

ok sorry, i had a feeling thats what it was haha.

and good call on the FICM! forgot all about that.... if that FICM has a bad internal ground (cause alot of these modules are grounded through their own circuitry) or is just bad, and is causing the truck to run derated and all weird like you've described, the tcm (transmission control module) will see the derated power being fed into it and shift all weird and whatnot.

I have a 05 F250 6.0 turbo, i have recently swapped the engine b/c the egr cooler went bad and dumped fluids in places they weren't suppose to go (upgraded the egr cooler). I have had it back for a month now. It cranks but will not start, I have drained the water seperator, purged the fuel lines (disconnect from the head and turned over three times), replaced the fuel filters, pulled and cleaned the EGR valve, charged batteries both will hold a charge, cleaned the battery terminals. I did notice oil around the oil filter housing. I am going to check the FICM as soon as i can get my hands on a volt meter. but any ideas would be greatly appreciated

does the dash light up (check engine light, odometer) when the key is turned on? how does it crank? slow? fast?

and please post this in a new thread so we dont have mass confusion on this one. if you go to the top of the page where it says ford, find your year and click on that, and youll see where it says "post new thread". we'll help you on there

Read here: https://www.dieselbombers.com/ford-p...questions.html

and post again.

Is there any smoke coming out of the exhaust when you're cranking? This should be relatively easy for us to diagnose though.

Wrangler, please read at top and post in new thread. These guys will help you with more info. There is an easy ficm test in top section that you only need a volt meter and you can DIY. That was my problem a while ago. Truck ran great all day Sunday, Monday am crank no start. Truck had 24 volts and needs 48 to fire injectors! Guess truck didn't want me to go to work! Lol if u need more help repost we thread with more info
