well for one of your questions, he is talking about the HPOP, the other pump is the engine oil pump like all cars and trucks have.
There is a scanner you can buy, Auto enginuity I think its called. Or a shop that has a scanner that can read the Ford Powerstrokes.

Yes, AutoEnginuity with the enhanced Ford bundle is one of the best bang for the bucks for scanning/monitoring for the DIY guy.

I got her put on a scanner today and checked the ICP pressure... 806 v.s. ICP desired pressure... 653. These were with a warm engine.

I had the batteries load tested and they were fine. Also checked the FICM again and got 47-48v in all three test areas.

Guess I'll try and replace the ICP sensor since it seems to "reset" when I unplug it and plug it back in. I hope that's it and not some $1.50 wiring plug or something dumb. I just hate to fork out close to $200. for a part I may not need.

I wouldn't just buy the ICP sensor for no reason. You need to monitor the ICP desired and ICP actual more... like while driving down the road. What do they both read under WOT?

I didn't write those numbers down but I think they were both around 1100-1200. Over 1000, I remember that much, with the desired # being less than the pressure #. All four graphs it showed were doing almost the exact same thing. That stuff is all over my head. Had a friend that is a mechanic, but not diesel, running his Snap-On to check things out.

Should I check things again? He suggested I check it when the engine's cold, not warm. Would that matter? Anything else I should check?

Thanks for the input!

At WOT, desired ICP and actual ICP should be pushing near 4000psi.

Thanks for that info. (I learn so much more on this site every day)! I will get it put back on the scanner sometime this week and check that out. Should I scan it first thing with a cold engine (letting it warm before WOT test) or can I just run down to his shop and scan it with a warm engine. Does it matter? Anything else to check?

Shouldn't really matter, usually better to test it warm actually, since that's when a high pressure oil leak will show it's ugly head.
