Default 04' F350 5 Speed auto problem

I have a 04' F350 6.0 diesel with the 5 speed automatic. It was dropping out in the 3 to 4 shift. It was also taking a long time to shift into reverse & drive when put into gear. Had the trans rebuilt, still have problem. Trans shop said its not the trans. Ford dealer said theres nothing wrong, no codes and everything is in spec. Under hard acelleration it trys to shift into 4th but keeps trying to shift then drops out then trys again, it will keep doing this till you let off just a little on the throtle. Very rearly it will do it under regular driving. Driving me nuts and a fortune as no one has been able to solve the problem. HELP!

Did the problem start before or after the superchips programer? I dont think the Superchips has a proper trans tune with it. I know SCT is the only tuner that safely tunes the trans of these Ford trucks. As youll hear from alot more you should toss the chip and get an SCT.

I just ordered a SCT LiveWire Tuner Programmer 6.0 Ford Powerstroke 310300297844, will try it out when it comes in. I hope it’s just the tuner, The trans was gone through 2 times, the solenoid pack was replaced 3 times. I have heard others complain about Super Chips but I had mine for the last 5 yrs with no problems till the end of last year. That’s why I had the trans rebuilt, figured with 135,000 miles it was starting to go.

i just recentley ditched a bullydog triple dog programmer for the sct because I was experiencing trans issues. Truck would hold third to fourth shift until i backed out of the throttle... SCT installed...immediately fixed! I ordered custom tunes for the SCT from innovative and like there trans. programming a lot better than the canned tunes in the SCT. May want to look into it once you get your new programmer. Good luck, let us know what happens when you retune!

Thats the same thing mine was doing. It sucked, especialy when your about to blow away the kid in the Handa, & the old man in the BMW! Got to get out of it for it to shift. The worst part was I had the Trans rebuilt & they were honest with me & said everything still looked good, but was still $2000 bucks to go though it! I changed the fluid every spring as I plow all winter & Tow all summer with it. Hope it works out, we will see this week, I'll keep you all posted.

Yeah, sounds like the exact same symptoms that my buddy had with his bullydog on his 04 6.0 too. SCT cured it.

The delay going into drive/reverse is scary though, damage may already be done there.

Yup, Just boosted the trans line pressures via the tuner & all is well with the world again. Just go home from Pittsburgh Raceway Park for out Brakett finals race. Towed our 11,000 lb enclosed trailer down & back with the cruise on. 65 mph up & down the hills with no problems. Ran the 65 hp Tow tune. SCT is the ****!
