ok, well, I think I am going to go ahead with the egr delete while I'm tied up in it.

2 Questions.

number one

The oil cooler was replaced 3 weeks ago, anything need to be done in this field (noticed several kits came withnew oil coolers)

Numero Dos

If I clean the valve could I just leave it plugged in to keep the check engine light off? It will be a bit before I can buy a tuner. This is gonna use up my exhaust money, kinda feel bad since I already asked for a quote on exhaust.

By the way, I appriciate the help

1) Use that cooler, it's brand new still.
2) Even with it plugged in you may still get a code. The code will probably be some "insufficient flow of EGR" which is obvious because if you block off the flow to it, it wont see anything going past it. The CEL wont hurt anything until you can get the tuner. You can always try and find a used X-cal2 or 3 on the forums too. Then just buy 1 custom tune for now and save for other tunes later.

If you have the strategy VXCF7 unplugging the EGR will do more harm than good as it will keep your fan from kicking on and overheat your engine.

sorry, you've lost me.
So, are you saying leave the egr plugged in or the engine will over heat......
Or I have to have a tuner right now with the delete kit or else stuff blows up?????

Leave it plugged in, but you may still get a code.

The strategy is just basically the programming code that is written in the truck. Every truck has it's own code. There are a handful of common ones. The strategy VXCF7 has code written in it for the fan to engage based on EGR functions I believe. I think someone said if you unplugged the EGR the fan wouldn't engage.

If you're not pushing coolant right now the fan almost never comes on with these trucks anyways. Only time my fan comes on is when I'm low on coolant. It's pretty hard to overheat one of these.

Your safest bet (since you can't get the strategy without a tuner) is to just leave it plugged in, but just know you may still get a CEL.

ok, I can deal with the light.
Hell, in my f150 if the check engine light turned off it worried me.

If the light is the only issue then I'll continue ahead like planned.

Thanks guys. I'll give yall a progress report or an SOS when I get into it.
