SCT tuner with X-race, and a bottle of nitrous. Trans will hold fine. No lift pumps on these trucks in the sense that you're thinking, it's 55psi from the tank all the way to the heads. An Airdog 2 is a great upgrade. It will replace the stock pump completely and has a built in regulator on it that is adjustable. Your buddy can have 3 tunes on the SCT, so he can use the x-race for racing at the strip, and then load a tow tune or a street tune for daily driving/towing. The nitrous just steps it up probably near 500hp, and is nice because it's only there when he feels like using it.

If you want to go injector/turbo way, I'd do 155's-190's for injectors and a powermax turbo. That should put it CLOSE to 500, and the spray would certainly push it past. I think he'd need the 190's and the powermax (or a different 62 or 64mm) to do it on fuel though.

Egr delete, Airdog II, TBE, 58V tuned FICM, SCT with custom tunes, 190s and a powermax should set him somewhere right above 500. I probably wouldn't do all this without studs though. If he did do it without studs it'd be very interesting to see how long it lasted...

Dealership already studded it since it was blowing head gaskets all over the place, we never found out why though, but free studs

If the dealer did it you can pretty much count on them blowing again because they do not and will not deck the heads. If a head is out of spec they put a new one on, but even those are out of spec sometimes... My dealer installed ARP's resulted in the worst case of blown headgaskets I've ever had. White smoke just POURING out of the exhuast.

The dealer put in free studs? I would almost bet they did NOT. Every person I've heard of getting ARP's installed at the dealer has had to buy the studs and then if you're lucky they will put them in under warranty. The dealer isn't going to fork over $400 for studs to fix it. Take a look, I'd almost bet you have the stock TTY bolts on that truck if the dealer told you they put them in and paid for it... You can just look under the hood by the heads and see if it's a bolt head or a stud head with a nut on it.

You never found out why it blew the headgaskets? It's not like it's uncommon with these things... EGR cooler failures and oil cooler failures, coupled with a crappy 4-bolts per cylinder design... on a motor that was intended to be around 175hp, then got bumped to 325 in our application, then had emissions equipment installed on it, then add a tuner... you can see where this is going.

This truck went in 6 times with a HG problem in the year 2008, truck is a 2007...

The 7th time, they studded it with new heads and the problem was gone...

and yes... i think the 4bolts per cylinder thing with these PowerJokes.... is a JOKE !

gotta love the Cummins !

I wouldn't say a bigger turbo Cus if u get a bigger turbo that thug isent gonna do anything unless u power lanch that bitch. First reply was good sct is best for powerstroke. Get compond turbos ull get almost Instintait turbo spool. But make sure u tell him to get a 4 inch straight pipe. Once u do all these upgrades the egts will be way to high without one
