I can't say I blame you. They are certainly not for everyone.

i know that it will need the new oil cooler ad possibly a tranny rebuild down the road would it be worth it because im looking for something that i can get some serious miles out of not just a money pit.

heres the story let the opinions fly!
just keep in mind that you're buying a truck with 145k miles on it. yeah, the engine will last much longer but everything else still has 145k miles on it. mine has 165k and i just recently had to replace the upper and lower ball joints on one side. that repair plus realignment and tire rotation cost me $393. and, i'm not 100% sure but i think i need new injectors. you should also do an egr delete they say. i bought a nice delete kit but can't afford to have it put on because it's gonna cost me about 10 hours labor wherever i take it. after all said and done the egr delete will cost me about $700-$1000 depending on where i take it. any truck/car with that many miles is gonna have some mechanical issues no matter what brand. i have a 2006 6.0 F350 and it's got it's little annoyances but i just love it! it has tone of power, i can haul anything i want, and with the tunes i got from IDP i can haul 23,000 lbs on a stock tranny. and, it sounds awesome with a straight pipe you should consider buying the truck. i bought mine for $16,000 and the loan value was $21,000 theres a pic of it on my profile i think. good luck! i hope you get what you want!
