Default Want Opinions on Edge Evolution

Hi Guys. I just joined Diesel Bombers last week and I love it. I have a stock 04 6.0L and I want some advise on programmer options. I want a faster 0-60 and I want to monitor my engines conditions. After reading several threads I realize that monitoring your EOT, ECT, and EGT can help predict some major issues before permanent damage occurs. I am on a tight budget so I really can't go for the best of the best. It looks like the SCT is the popular programmer but I really can't afford it right now. I was looking at the Edge Evolution. It would give me the choice of three programs and let me monitor the engine vitals of my choice. The price is reasonable. I would value everyone’s opinions on this. Also, if you know of another product that will give me what I am looking for please let me know. Over the next few months I plan to flush the coolant, clean the turbo, clean the EGR valve, install a coolant filter, and possibly remove the EGR cooler. Thanks for any input.

SCT is by far the favorite of the 6.0L group, if I had the funds I would already have one. I have heard that an Edge programmer is one of the worst for the 6.0. In any case my advice to you is get make sure you stud the heads before you buy a programmer, $500 for the ARP headstuds and some dealerships will do the installation for free under warranty, if not it's about $2k to install because the cab needs to come off. Most programmers will allow the turbo to push more boost than stock and without studs you will blow the heads right off on a 6.0L, especially the early style that is in the 04, as long as you aren't rompin' on it too hard you might be able to get away with it.

SCT livewire with custom tunes is my vote if you want an all in one package,

otherwise I'd say get an SCT X-cal3 or SF-3 (virtually identical) and stand-alone gauges.

Ya i would keep saving and get SCT you should be able to get the SCT livewire for around the same price you can get the Edge and you wont regreat it at all. Exspecialy when you get some custom tunes made just for your truck. I think if you do get the edge you will end up buying SCT in the future any ways so do it right the first time
