Default SCT Gauge accuracy?

Hey guys im currently running an SCT livewire in my '04 stroker. I was wondering how accurate the data-display gauges are? I recently picked up a pyrometer for it for dirt cheap. Before I go through all the mess of installing it, I wanted to know if anybody has run SCT's gauges versus some more expensive/accurate pillar mounted versions. I know I need to get a fuel pressure gauge going, but could I avoid egt/boost/trans temp by trusting the SCT brand?

Shoot it to me straight! If I need to pony up some buck-a-roos and get the real gauges lemme know!

You'll get a lot of different answers but I will say that guage is only reading what the truck is reading, so if something goes haywire with the truck, your numbers will be off. I prefer the stand-alone gauges. I've got 3 on the a-pillar and 2 above the rear view mirror now.

It's all in what you want I guess. I've heard the trans temp on the factory setup (what you're reading with the livewire) is off, but have nothing to back it up.

My boost and trans temp reads the same on my livewire and auto meters on the pillar. Could be variations from truck to truck though. I would run the egt throught the livewire since it has a seperate sender and isn't just reading off the stock senders in the truck. my egt temps were the same with my livewire and auto meter I'm running now, I just didn't like turning the livewire off and on all the time. If I did it over again I would just run the livewire and put fuel pressure, engine oil temp, and coolant temp in my pillar. Maybe add a trans temp if you tow a lot. I rarely see over 150 on my trans even when running the truck hard.

Thanks a bunch for that info! That was what I was looking for. I think it makes sense to get some gauges going on when I get the money. Im just glad that all the money I spent on my SCT wasnt just for illuminated blue numbers!

It's all just preference for the most part. I just prefer the thought of stand alone stuff, but the livewire is really nice.
