And We Have Lift Off

Mdub707; I posted on another site also and a dude said he'd jack his before, but not for pulling heads. He's convinced it will work. Well I'm in the shop as I write this and I am about to go under with an air gun and start pulling bolts. I'm gonna place a jack to support the tranny temporarily and then rejack where the cross member was. After that, I'll take another jack and place it somewhere under the motor to support it while I start removing the mounts. I think I'm gonna remove them completely though. This is gonna be a, "play it by gut feel as I go". Just don't wanna get stupid about this.

10-4 on the pics. Guys thanks for the input. Got the tranny supported with one jack centered by the cross-member mount with cross-member out. Also took a ratchet strap and came across the bottom of the tranny for added support. Picked up the back braces of leave springs to anchor strap on both sides. Think I'll call it an evening now and drink a six pack of quarts.

Well bad news from the machine shop. Both my heads failed on magnaflux. Cracks around valves on each head. They said they have repaired some in the past but indicated mine were really bad, but my decision. Forget fixing them as, if they are that bad eventually they would go again. So now I'm looking for a set of heads. Not good. Anybody have any tips on where to pickup heads?
MUDSTROKIN' There was no evidence of a piston ring chewed up. The headgasket was blown at #5 cylinder and #5 and #7 cylinders had evidence of coolant passage into the cylinder. That is the reason I had the facsimile of hydrostatic lock initially.

Surprising information I've learned. Apparently this is not uncommon as when I spoke with the machine shop the gentlemen indicated that he has seen cracking around the valves on many 6.0 heads they've done work on. In addition, I've checked a few other sites with the same comments by a few folks that had posted. One gentleman was told by a machine shop his heads had cracks and they suggested that he use them anyway. The guy indicated he did and they are still on the truck and he states he has had no problems. Just don't think I can go that route knowing something is broke and using it anyway. Thanks for the input Mdub. I'll be checking Liberator Performance out.
