The coolant filter kit from dieselsite.com comes with some very good instructions, it's hard to mess up. The amsoil bypass I've never done, but I don't believe that is very hard to do either. If I was doing it all blind, I'd probably try and mount them on the frame and run longer lines, just to clean up the engine bay a bit. The coolant filter isn't bad though, that mounts on the passenger side on the radiator bracket up by the top.

Try this page for photos of the oil bypass. I didn't look to see where they mounted them but there are a couple 06's there.

My DieselSite coolant filter is in the "recommended" location on the passenger-side, in the space between the battery and the fan shroud - just above the turbo boost tube.

My AMSOIL bypass oil filter (EABP100) is also on the passenger-side behind the grille in front of the a/c condenser. This does require removal of the grille to access the filter but the filter doesn't need to be changed frequently either.

The key to both is to make certain that you can exchange the filter BEFORE finalizing the location. You can imagine how frustrated I might be if the oil bypass filter didn't have enough room to drop the filter free from the threads...I'd be forced to remove the housing each time! I also added in a margin of space to accomodate a small catch-pan underneath to avoid spills.

Hope this is helpful! Great decision too!

for the amsoil bypass filter where did you take the oil supply and discharge lines from

on the dieselsite.com they are showing buying a 1800.00 set up...including removing the oil filter aluminum block

not clear how to plumb in

I'm not sure which bypass system is being shown on the dieselsite?? but it must be the single bypass filter(BMK21 if you're having to worry about feed and return lines. AMSOIL has the pieces needed. Here is the descrip:

Ford 6.0L/6.4L Power Stroke™ Diesels
To ease installation of the BMK21 on 2003 and later model Ford pickups equipped with the 6.0L and 6.4L Power Stroke™ diesel engines, AMSOIL offers the new Aluminum Billet Oil Filter Cap (BK1101), the Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap (BK1102) and the 90-degree JIC Elbow (BP242, two recommended) (all sold separately). These new high-quality billet aluminum caps replace the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) filter cap and oil fill cap. The new caps have holes tapped in them that accept the JIC elbows for hose connectors.

These pieces will not cost you over $150.
