Default new truck

my neighbor/friend kinda went to reno to buy a fly wheel and ended up buying an 04 6.0 PSD but he is stoked about it. its got a six speed and I guess a new banks turbo in it. only got 60,000 so I don't know if head studs have been replaced. he says he's only getting 14 to 15 MPG how can he improve that? how hard is it to delete EGR any advantages to that? IF you guys got any advice I'd love to hear it from you, thanks.

EGR full delete isn't really hard, but definitely time consuming. It's a days project. Two sets of hands make it go faster. It's worth it though, it will prevent issues down the road. 14-15 sounds typical to me. Others claim higher numbers but I haven't seen it myself. Not sure what turbo is the "banks turbo" sure would like to know a little more about that. You wont find too many banks fans around the forums. I would invest in a coolant filter ASAP from www.dieselsite.com and I believe Adam from FCDP (first coast diesel performance) has a kit out now too. Either is fine. Gauges and exhaust would be my next suggestions. Fuel pressure gauge is the single most important mod on a 6.0 IMO.

I agree! I would also monitor EOT and ECT. A failed oil cooler can be a real headache!
