Low boost issue?
Hi, I have an 03 f-350 6.0. I just got it fixed, it completely died on me a couple months ago. I replaced the IPR,ICP,OPS,CKP,HPOP,and fuel pump. But now its building low boost. Its only building 20 pounds under load. Could there be stuck vanes in the turbo or is it completely shot? If anyone has an idea what it could be please let me know before i go and spend money on a new one.
The only time my truck smokes is when i first start it in the mornings, it smokes for about thirty seconds and then clears up. But under load it does not smoke at all. And the EGR is not stuck i had that checked outh already.
Well it's usually a good thing if it has been worked, it keeps the turbo cleaned out. I would first go through and inspect all the rubber boots for cracks or possibly leaks. It's quite possible with that amount of miles. If those check out, I would go ahead and do the the turbo reconditioning process, it's sort of time consuming, but it's pretty straight forward and inexpensive to do. Worst case scenario, you have a clean turbo when you're done.
Ok thanks. What do i all need in order to clean the turbo? I know how to take the turbo off the truck but when it comes to taking it apart im a little unsure how to do that? Is there a special way that im supposed to take it apart and put it back together? Some insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
