Im wanting to get new exhaust soon and being fairly new to the diesel world im not exactly sure what the best way to go is. Like straight pipes or stacks ?

 

Pipe out the back or stacks is your personal preference, Which ever you do i would go straight pipe from the turbo back. MBRP and Diamond eye Both make great 4" straight pipe kits

 

Iv got a 5 inch single turbo back with a muffler and its so loud ppl think its straight piped. But the 5 inch is so big it touchs everything. If i were u put a 4 inch on and go with it, your gonna love that whistle

 

The mbrp 4 inch alumanized straight pipe is a really good exhaust and a good deal. Plus they make the VGT turbo sound good

 

5" straight pipe sounds good... not much of a difference over 4", other than price and just to say you have it. If you want stacks, that's just your preference. I agree, keep the muffler and cat off of it. Let that thing breathe.

Here's my buddies 05 on the dyno, running an SCT with canned race tune, 5" straight pipe, stock airbox.


This was the loudest truck of the day IMO on the dyno. Granted it's inside a garage, but it's still loud. Stacks are quieter actually, but have a deeper tone. Stacks are louder INSIDE the cab though, they can get obnoxious if you tow anything.

Here is my other buddies 06, EGR delete, SCT innovative extreme street, Innovative tuned FICM, and 4" into 6" mitre stacks, straight piped....

 

i was talking to a buddie of mine and he said something about the o2 censor. would the straight pipe effect this ??

 

There isn't an o2 sensor on our diesels. That's a gas job problem. There are no sensors in the exhaust system from the turbo back on a 6.0.

 

MBRP 4" is my recommendation
