wow it must be the weather... my truck wont start either. when I parked it, it was running perfect. went to start it in the am. and it only skipps along trying to start,if I go thru the start proceedure and let the glow plugs warm up and the fuel pump run you can hear it test firing the injectors it will run for about 3-4 seconds the it just skips like it wants to run ?? I used a friend of mines OBD2/can scanner it would not get the codes.. it said that codes where pending.. obviously his scanner can't read the trucks comp. I spoke with Mark at MKM about a scanner got lots of good info. but no clues until I get it hooked up could be alot of things??? causing the problem. I know one thing, I'm going to do my best to stay away from the dealer$$$$$ . I hope it's something simple. will the sct scanner read HPOP psi's, and fuel pressure going to the HPOP.? If not how do you test those psi's.

Autoenginuity is the best scanner for the powerstrokes from what I've seen.

Fuel pressure to the HPOP? Or oil pressure?

yeah I really like the options that the sct scanner will do, but doing the side by side thing I think that the autoeninuity would do more, it will also work on my 07 jeep and my 05 GMC. I tested my ficm last night and came up with some very interesting numbers for voltage. with the key in the "on " position the voltage started at 19/v then rose to about 49/v. with the key in the "buzz" cycle my volts while the injectors where buzzing was 24/v after the buzzing stopped the voltage rose to about 47/v. withe key in the cranking poition the voltage dropped to 25/v and continued to drop to as low as 12/v it depended how long I would crank it. I'm not going to grind my starter down or kill my batts because I know it wont start!!. it sounds like my ficm is bad? I'm not going to do any thing until I can scan it. If any body has an idea let me know.

Sure sounds it. Are you going to try and repair it yourself? Its nice if you have a buddy with one too so you can try his out first, but if not, definitely sounds like you're on the right track.

All of my buddies drive Dodge of Chevy gas motors, I wish that there was a GOOD service manual that showed the locations of the sensors. I have a chiltons and IT DON'T SHOW SH!%. for 6.0's. thank god for the internet and sites like this one that have a tremendous amount of information on them. I've decided to get the autoenginuity with the ford diesel enhancment program that way I can read all of my newer cars and if I have any major problems then I can get those enhancements as well. then the rest is just getting to the stuff, as you know once you pull all of the air tubes from the turbo and air cleaner off, the motor is wide open it's just identifying the parts.

i had the same problem with my 04 6.0 it sat in the dealer 3 months while they changed parts and billed me. I tok it to a diesel shop they changed o rings on the injectors and it was good after that. they explained to me that the injectors werent getting enough oil pressure due to bad oring. hope this might help

well I hope it's not the injectors, it would not start one day when I went to start it?? I've spoken with folks who have had they're o-rings replaced said it was a gradual deterioration in performance.. to the point that it would not run right??? but who knows with these things. I'm pretty sure it's my ficm but until I get the autoenginuity program in the mail I'm not going to touch it.I'll wait.. but I will keep you all posted on what I find.
