Default 03 6.0 running rough but no smoke.

i was on my way to work when i stopped at a stop light and after taking off it started running rough like i had a major susspension problem after awhile it smoothed out. got the truck home and hooked my solus pro up and it gave me a code for cyl.#3 contribute/balance fault but there has not been any smoke or even a check engine light. now i unhooked the #3 injector with the truck running and had no change in the motor. The truck has only 90k miles on it. So my question is would it be the injector, ficm,or something mechanically wrong especially when it was running great and then all of a sudden rough running?

Probably an injector. I had one go out of the blue like that with no prior symptoms. It happened on mine at around 57k miles. Not common but it does happen. IF it was FICM, you would be getting more than one code (usually) and sometimes the cylinders at fault would change randomly. My guess is it's that injector though. Especially since you unplugged it and nothing changed. Another thing to check over... how does the injector harness look?

ok i finnaly got around to it again and took the valve cover off which was a bear then hooked everything back up and started the truck after close examination i saw that were the oil rail sits on top of each injector all the others had a little of oil spurting from them except #3 which tells me that #3 is electonically good but mechanically bad. will have the $199.00 injector installed tuesday and will report back with updates.

And also thanks for the reply mdub707.
