thanks for the info on the coolant filter i have been looking for one but i just wasnt sure what i needed ... whats the deal with changing hg and doin studs everyone tells me that its a cab off job but a good friend and very good mech said it can b done without removing the cab the only problem is u have to beat in the firewall to get one of the studs in .. what yall think

That is correct. You can do it in cab, it's harder and takes more time, but sometimes it's your only option. I dont have a lift personally and really don't have access to one right now so I will probably end up doing it in cab myself. Cab-off is easier though. A good tech can have the cab off in 45 min - 1hr. Beating the firewall in is correct, which is more so for removing the stock bolt than it is getting the stud in, but it helps both scenarios.
Some guys have also put studs in one at a time and I've heard of a few guys having luck with it (not taking heads off at all, pulling one bolt, putting one stud in, then moving to the next one). I dont recommend that way, but that is my personal preference. If you're going through all the trouble of putting studs in, take the heads off, bring them to a machine shop, have them pressure checked and have the surface decked. Dont go more than .008" If you have to take more, they are paperweights.
I just put the dieselsite coolant filter on myself. It's easy to install and pretty nice. I spent the extra on the ball valves too. Seems silly to put it on without those.
