Default Hard Start/ No Start Issue

My 06 has been in the shop several times (almost considering lemon law) for a hard start / no start issue. The techs have looked at it and couldn't find anything wrong, or couldn't get codes to pop up. I pick it up tomorrow and the service guys seems to think that it is the Banks 6 Gun that is causing the problems. Funny thing is, that it wasn't the 6 Gun the lsat time it was in. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had a similar problem two months ago, if you are taking it to the "only" dealer in town, forget it. Take it to the Diesel Doctor, and get it fixed. They are a little expensive, but they're worth it.

Can we get more info about the truck like mileage and how it's used and how often? What mods do you have? Your sig says headbolts? Is that supposed to be a joke in some way? haha.

Is it throwing any codes? If you take the 6 gun off of it does it still do it now? Are you already out of warranty? If not, why did you bring it in with the 6 gun on it?

The truck has about 48,000 miles on it now, used pretty much as a DD and tows once or twice a month. Still havent had the chance to pull the new toyhauler yet. Headbolts are not a joke, had them put in when the headgaskets blew and were replaced. Still covered under an extended warranty plan, so stuck with the "ONLY" dealer in town. Last time it was in for the same issue, the 6 Gun was disconnected and was determined by the dealership to NOT be the problem, now they say it is.

Hey Arctic,
We recently did a trial study on a product called Rev-X with 6.0L Fords having sticking injectors/cold start issues. The guys who tried it have given alot of feedback, and some specifics on how the truck was acting before and then after trying it.
If you're interested, you can look at it here:

Could be an STC fitting? HPOP failure? Maybe FICM problems.... it's hard ot diagnose without any codes. When it actually does run how's it do? and does the no start just come out of no where or does it slowly get worse while driving until suddenly it doesn't start? ever just shut off on you while driving?

The problem is intermittent, and the dealer has said that they have checked all of those issues with no success. Truck runs fine after it starts, just has an attitude and decides to act up from time to time. Just got it back today and the Banks is disconnected under the hood. I will give it a try and see what happens over the next couple weeks. Have to wait til the Banks rep up here gets back from his real job, then have him check out the controller. On the plus side, MPG went up to about 18 almost immediately, but I bet that is just a fluke.

What does it act like before it doesn't start? and is it usually on a cold start that it won't start or will it sometimes happen when it's warm?

Most of the time it does it after it has been run for a short trip, maybe 10 to 15 minutes. Let her sit for about an hour to two and then will crank but won't fire over. Every once in a while it will do it for the first crank of the day, but not very often.

I'm guessing its something to do with your HPO system. but i'm not positive.
