Default 2006 F-550 question (overheated)

Hello, this is in regards to my work truck 2006 F-550 4x4 utility truck diesel 34,000 miles, I don't know the complete specifics of what was replaced on the engine but it has been back to the dealer a few times.

Anyway, today while working was filling out some paper work and looked down at the gauges and noticed the "check gauges" was displayed, I checked the gauges and noticed the temp. gauge was pinned in the red, the truck was fine all day until this point. Opened the hood and there was like this brown mud looking fluid coming out of the antifreeze reservoir kind of smelled like gear oil, checked to see if the fan was working and it was, tranny fluid looked fine clean and pink, oil also looked normal.

I know previously both heads were replaced and the EGR cooler ?? on top of the manifold was replaced as well as some lines if I remember correctly. (as well as numerous other parts not engine related)

The truck was towed to the dealer so will probably be a while before I get it back just wanted to ask what you think happened? I was not towing anything just driving from corner to corner in a sub division and truck was running all day like it does 4 days a week.

Sorry don't have more info,

THANKS,

TONY

I bet the oil cooler ruptured and mixed with the coolant. I have heard that is a recipe for a new engine

Can't beleive all the problems this truck has had with only 34K miles on it, as I said both heads replaced that EGR cooler, alternator twice, the fan switch twice, quality is job one huh??

A new engine would be nice, at least it might run the way it did before any of these problems, Hope the truck is still under warranty don't think the County I work for would be too happy having to pay to have a new engine installed!! LOL

Well it will probably be out of my hands for at least a month, if I hear anything as to what they find or do I'll post it, thanks

truck is back from our Fleet dept or Ford, not sure if they sent it to Ford or not, was awfully quick to come back considering how fleet usually is. Don't know what was wrong with it yet but will try to find out Monday. Haven't looked under the hood or driven it yet, will check it out on Tuesday when I go back to work.

Called the ford dealer today to find out what they did, they told me they had to replace the egr and oil cooler and it was engine oil that mixed with the antifreeze. I know nothing about this engine so I have no idea how these coolers even work or are plumbed or anything but it ran normal today.
