Default 04 major air leak under trottle

A good friend of mine has an 04 6L and seems to run fine for the most part except the fuel milage. Any way on the road and when you spool up the turbo you can hear a major intake leak or some sort of air leak. If air leak is fixed could it help fuel milage?

I cant see it running "fine" with a major air leak... How is it even boosting if it has such a big leak?

yes it would help. i would check the boot on the compressor outlet. that one usually rips. if not that one check the other two on the ic. if not that then its probably the up pipes.

I had a cracked up-pipe on my 06. It would whistle really loud at idle, when it was cold, but other than that I didn't notice one difference and it still boosted fine too... weird.

Havent been on since posted thread but thanks allot I will pass it on to him. The leak is not as bad as he described to me it is more of a whistle when he realy gets on it and dident start untill he installed the kn air box and filter. It is hard to hear where it is coming from when your under the hood due to the noise the engin and fan make. But there are no loose clamps or anything out of the ordinary as for as the eye can see. What is the up pipe???? Thanks again
