Default Slow Low Speed Spool Up

Hey, how's it going?
I have an 03 6.0 that I really dig, but there's always that one issue: pulling out into traffic can be a REAL challenge . I almost tailended a bus driving a wastegated truck like it was my 6.0. Seems like the VGT is asleep on the j-o-b. Once it's rollin/boosted up, watch out, it's a serious beast.
At any rate, what can be done? I don't need to make 45psi, so a new turbo is out. Would a tighter converter help since it seems to boost up closer to stall speed? I'd rather not buy another programmer, so I don't know if an EGR delete is an option.

Just nature of the beast. Just have to finesse it. Going WOT makes it worse usually.

WFO from a dead spot is fun, huh? My friend's 6-oh has an ATS trans with a different stall (I believe it's lower unlike gas engines that respond with higher stalls), anyway, with 38s/3.73s, it would creep through the RV gate pushing my 18' flat deck where I would have to bump my throttle some. Looks like I'm grabbing an aftermarket converter when the payment book is fininshed.
