Just my .02
What do you mean by driveability, cause I finally decided to go with a delete kit that isnt a plug but it is a whole new piping system and I havent really gone through the parts in it yet, (waiting till it warms up here) but my mech. said it has a whole new setup to the intake. I didnt look into the specifics too much cause my mech said he researched all the delete kits and he highly recommended this one to me. But I dont wana go putting it in if its just going to cause more problems.

The main issue with my truck was just egr seizing up on me no other issues what so ever. I've never had one last me more than a day. I'd always used to do min 8hr trips at a time and it would usually go on me the first day i had it in before my trip was done.

There ARE hundreds of people that are misunderstood on EGR deletion.

Are you aware, at the bare minimum, that the EGR acts as a boost failsafe for when the turbo sticks?

I am not going to get into the complexities of the EGR/Boost strategies tonight, it's late, but I will put something together for you guys to read.

I will be the first guy to admit the 04-up EGR cooler SUCKS..but I would definately not delete the EGR system on a 6.0

the egr does not act as a fail safe for over boost conditions

He found it on eBay and bought one...saying that he was tired of replacing this thing and that he needed his truck to stay in business.

I went by this weekend and watched as he removed and replaced the unit.

Picasa Web Albums - Gene-iuos! - Cooler Instal...

He inspected the item from eBay before installing it. He said that Ford wanted like $450 plus $115 for gaskets for a new EGR cooler, and this one was actually going to save him $100 and it was a lot stronger. He also liked that the new one has the exact same fit and function as the original cooler, so installation was easy.

I will update the forum as his mileage goes and any history or emissions problems.
You got a link for that upgraded egr cooler? You think i should get one for 2003? its got 120,000 miles on it and the egr has never been messed with or anything else. All its has is a kn air intake and its running on valvoline extreme. It runs fine right now and it will run even better when i get my 4" turbo back and SCT X3 i went on ebay and couldnt find it.

i have been working on diesels for years, how does a egr valve act as a fail safe for a overboost condition? that makes no sense, i have seen the unison rings stick on the turbo and have seen them boost to 35 psi

It's in the PCM strategy. I will get you the documentation when I find it. I just moved 4000 miles and can't find a damn thing.

It was pretty hammered into us at the powerstroke training. The EGR will open during certain conditions to alleviate a condition that the PCM reads as 'over boost', causing a drop in available exhaust pressure and heat to drive the turbo, but offhand - i can't remember what they are.
