dont listen to rv. with the proper add ons and maintenance the 6.0 can be a good engine. as far as the 5-600 hp theres no way your getting that with the mods you have. im callin B.S until other wise proved wrong

well I dont agree you would need to put head studs and hope the engine is a good one I would do a car fax or go to the dealer and see how many issues this truck had I had a the best diesel mechanic in my home town and said if you make it to 60,000 with no engine problems like heads and gaskets turbos etc it will more than likely be a good truck it is the one that had problems to stay away from I had a 6.0 and it was horrible I was a big ford fan till i bought that truck

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

also my brother in law had one and he went threw heads gaskets turbos etc so I am not speaking from my butt i had one junk he had one junk I like the super duty truck i just wish they bilt a good diesel engine that had the power of a cummins because they have a good foundation

It doesn't matter what you drive, it's how you drive it that determines the life of the vehicle.

mabe but when you go to my ford dealer there is from stock to moded 6.0s there are at least 6 trucks in line for heads or head gaskets also ford would not be suing internation if it was a perfect motor ? it is a shame because ford builds a great truck just not a diesel

you want to get an OASIS report that will tell you what all has been "mechanically" done to the truck. all carfax will tell you is if it has been wrecked, broken in to etc. etc. and i wont disagree with you at all they have had major trouble with the headgaskets mainly due to the weak @$$ HEADBOLTS they used! and then there is OWNER maintenance. i think you said you had roughly 60k on your truck. how many times in that 60k did you clean your egr valve. it needs to be cleaned approx every 20k miles, less than that if you run a chip. to make a long story short. with the proper mods supported by headstuds and an egr delete 90% of 6.0's will be a good reliable engine! there isnt a truck on the road that doesnt have problems on its way to big HP #'s!!!!

ok u made your point. all i can say that when you go to my dealership and all you see is lined up 6.0 it APPEARS that it is not just a maintence problem and you talk to professional ford mechanics that support that well then ? I never said or implied that I know everything none of us do we just talk from what we learn and see.and experience I know you love your truck so did i before all the problems and yes i do agreee all of them have trouble but it just appears that dodge and chevy seem to have a little less no i am not bashing your truck at all i think you have a good truck.I just see my friend that have 7.3 with no problems like 6.0 I just hope someday ford will get rid of international and build one there own and stop the lawsuits. because they build a great foundation.
