Default Chugging with turbo and possible clog

I notice when I accelerate hard and let the gas off, I have a chugging sound that come for a few seconds. Just wondering if it was a problem or normal. Also I noticed soot marks coming out of where my exhaust ties in to the catalytic converter. Would that mean it is clogged and can I just remove it without having to do any deletes.

The chugging noise is pretty normal.
And the soot at the connection is normal too. Doesn't really mean it's plugged, maybe the clamp isn't tight enough.
You can definitely remove it, if you want without triggering any codes. But if your running a tuner, I really recommend removing it.

Thank you for the insight. I have owned a duramax and a Cummins, and neither of them did it so I wanted to be sure. This is my first powerstroke.
