Ok ill have a look and report back. Seems it can be done without going too crazy if you have a 1 1/6" deep socket with a couple extensions.

No progress so far. Gonna check the icp voltage again now that the batteries are charged up again. I was doing a bit of reading and some say if the icp plug has oil on it that its bad. Mine did. Should i worry?

Do you mean inside the plug where you plug the harness. Personally, I would worry about that. That statement I've never heard before. I may be wrong so I'll check on that, but in my exp, oil hasn't affected anything.

Tested the voltage again and there was no difference. I figured i may as well start getting stuff out of the way in preperation for the next step. So i got the turbo inlet pipe off, ficm, turbo outlet pipe and as i was getting these things out of the way i noticed 2 things.
1. Alot of oil around the hpop cover near the heads. Behind the turbo was dry.

2. There is a sensor of some sort between the oil filter housing and the turbo and it was covered in oil as well.

Yeah I'm not supprized with all that oil, it's common for oil leaks from both Location. The sensor (oil temp and other engine oil pressure), is just a o ring that needs changing. The hpop, well the gasket needs changing. But for that gasket, you can get a new one with a the stc update kit along with a IPr screen and o rings.
But if you don't mind me asking, how much milage do you have on it, and at what milage did you buy it? Is there any mods that were done to it? Do you get any maintenance records from the day you bought it?

It had 214000kms on it when i got it, has 217 i think now. Only mod im aware of is the egr delete. I was thinking it may be best to pull the hpop cover and do the stc fitting and gaskets as well as the stand pipes since they seem to be a problem for most people and the ipr if its not working. Or is it better to just do things as they go? A little prevenative maintanence never hurts eh? Unless changing the ipr fixes it. In which case ill just leave everything else until something goes where im required to pull the turbo and intake and then do all the other stuff.

Yeah I say go for it, while you are in there, and most of everything is off. if your budget allows it of coarse. Like you say it may prevent futur problems too if it's the case. But for sure if I were take that cover, off and check. If the the update stc is in there, then great you probably only need to buy just the gasket (don't forget silicon too) for a few bucks.but if you need The kit should only cost about 150 area. And it comes with an IPr screen and o rings too.
So far, my only worry though, is that if you see a lot junk on the IPr screen, you should, even recommended is to change the hpop oil sump screen which is right below the oil cooler housing where the oil filter is standing on. They break often and can easily allow debris to head to the IPr and pluggin it. But it's up to you if you want to take all that off. But all you need to buy is the screen and the gasket which should be just a few bucks to and this way you know everything is good. But it is more work though. But your call too.

Should the oil pressure gauge read something while the motor is cranking? I noticed that it doesnt move. I suppose that could have saved me a bunch of fooling around?

Got the ipr out. Theres a big piece of the screen missing.
I put 12v to it after i popped the rest of the screen out. It clicked and a bit of oil came out of the little hole in the middle. I assume this means its working?
