Default 2004 6.0L slow to start

I recently had my 2004 F350 6.0L Crew(170000kms) gone over by a Ford mechanic, before it was shipped to a remote location. He replaced, #6 injector,#4 glowplug, replaced fuel filters, tested FICM ( OK). It started great. Got it into the worksite over very rough conditions. Now it takes 5 turns on the glowplugs before it starts in morning. When it starts, it runs smooth right away Once warm, it starts easily,I retested FICM (48.4V Warm) Ideas?????

Default f250white slow to start

I ruled out the glow plugs, because it runs so smooth when it does start. I didn't check the FICM when it was cold, but when warm it tested properly at 48 Volts.

Make sure connector on glow plug module is pushed all the way in on both connectors

I had similar issues with my '06. It turned out to be a bad Glow Plug Controller. $444 later (actually $100 in warranty), the problem was gone. You can get the controller for a lot less than this....less than $200 and install it yourself.

You probably need control solenoid like busted said. Easy fix you can do yourself. It sounds like glow plugs aren't working. They only warm up intake charge to get initial firing. They are off after indicator goes out but remain warm to help start.
