Default build 5r110 0r buy built

ok a built 5r110 is 4k-5k
but what are the weak links could i throw in a $1300 torque converter
get a $300 billet imput shaft $650 billet flex plate get the gogo solenoid for $150 innovative tunes (since eric has best trans tunes) $1000 intermediate shaft deep pan for $300 aux trans cooler for $200 and a overhaul kit for $700

and plan to buy it all ob black friday and save a few hundred should be under 3000

does this seem logical??

A built trans usually has some sort of warranty included in the price. Nice insurance policy built in if you ask me.....

Buy a built one with a warranty. Worth the money if something goes wrong.

I just went though the same thing with my 5r, though the past month. When it came down to it, I didn't have the budget to justify spending the extra money for a warrenty, plus some companies charge core up front. I just couldn't do it. So, when it came down to it, I went with the following:

PI Converter - $1260
Mts Billet Low/Reverse - $300
Billet Input - $250
Patc Pan/Transgo Kit/Dummy Plugs (Odds and ends) - 260
GOGO Solenoid - $150
Revmax Overhaul - $730

Total - $2950

Obviously that's not including some misc odds and ends such as trans fluid and stuff. But for what companies are offering for the ~$3000 price range, I would say its better than what I can get prebuilt. Now, if you're capeable of doing it yourself, you don't have to worry about labor, but you could figure ~$400 bucks to have someone build it with your parts, if you pull the trans. Otherwise figure someone pulling, building, and reinstalling your trans as well. Now, you included a billet intermediate, and you might as well include a billet Planetary as well, so figure another $1200.

Just food for thought.
