Default Blew off Turbo Hose on long trip

Each year Me, and 5 buddies of mine go on a trip to WVA, from maryland "for canoe trip" . This year I drove "2005 6.0 C/C Lariat 4x4 Dually". That I've owned for bout 2 months, so maybe pushing an additional 3,500 lbs max with us and all the gear "then" . as we got within 5 miles of our 2 hr. destination, ascending up a moderate but long incline, there was a Loud BOOM, then loss of power instantly, simultainously the turbo spooling down rapidly. got out and notice coolant just behind the front drivers tire about 1/2 a liter. then some misty smoke . popped hood and we saw turbo clamp had blew. My mechanic buddy noticed right away that the clamp that had failed was not OEM. Meaning truck either had an upgrade of some sort or , simply that part had failed before. After replacing the clamp, haven't had anymore problems, "knock on wood". Also a while back on 2 occaisons I gave quick burst throttle from dead stop, and truck stalled, it did however start right back up. are these in anyway related ?

Not sure if they a re related. I blew my turbo hose off while letting off the throttle too fast during a full throttle run. Went from ~4,000 rpm to ~1500. The extra boost had nowhere to go I guess.
