Here's what I have: 04 PSD with a just replaced bullet proofed 03. New injectors, studs, HPOP, alternator, IPR, etc. 100% stock, no chip or tuner. Anyway, it was running fine for a few weeks after engine change and a week ago it suddenly surged and died. The glow plug light and WIF light came on. It would restart, but if I touched the accelorator, it would die. I managed finally to get it out of the intersection. It would crank and idle fine. I let it idle and let someone tow me the 7 miles home. It sat for an hour or so, then cranked and ran somewhat. It would accelorate, but eventually stall and die. The WIF light would come on each time just before it died. It would go off immediately. I pulled the HFCM. No water in fuel, no trash, no gunk around the sensor. Filters were brand new and still looked good. It started running pretty good and I took it on a 10-15 mile road test. It shuddered a few times and eventually died once, but mostly it ran like a scalded ape. No smoke at all.

Since the issue hadn't disappeared completely, I thought I'd look for any chaffed wires or loose connections to the FICM. I found none, but after fooling with the wires today, I started it and had the same problem I had originally. It idled, but if I tried to touch the pedal, it died. Now it won't start at all. It tries and sometimes it will hit for a second, then dies. I assume the problem is electrical?

The nearest mechanic shop with a scanner is 30 miles away and my work schedule and his is keeping me from towing it down for the next few days. Is there anything else I can check? I have no intention of just throwing parts at it hoping for the best.
