I just purchased a 2006 F250 super duty, 6.0, with 51K miles on it, and the check engine light came on indicating that the EGR Sensor needs to be replaced. Instead of replacing the sensor, I was thinking about cleaning it off and purchasing a tuner to turn of the EGR. If I do this, will my engine light turn off? Do I risk causing any damage to the truck? I wouldn’t mind using the tuner to improve my gas mileage as well, but I’m not looking to get any more speed or towing power out of the truck. Any thoughts or suggestions? SCT with custom tuning from Gearhead seems to be the most commonly suggested tuner.

 

That's good idea anyway for most is deleting EGR and tuner to remove code.
