Default Swapping turbine

Was wondering if there would be any issues with swapping an 03 exhaust turbine into my 04 turbo. My turbo hasn't caused any issues just wanted a little more whistle. Found an 03 international turbine on ebay for 140 bux brand new. I also found a guy who showed how to completely rebuild the turbo and the part number for the rebuild kit. Figured if I tore it apart I would go ahead and replace all the seals. My turbo has just over 100k on it. Worth all the trouble and will it work? And if it is doable does it really need to be balanced and if it does where do you get that done? Thanks.

Why not just install the 2003 turbo? The 2003 turbine will not fit the 2004 housing. Post pics of what you bought.

Havent bought anything yet. Exhaust turbine is brand new for sale on ebay. Dont have an 03 turbo to swap in. Figured instead of payin 1000 bux for an 03 turbo why not mod my 04 turbo that i already have for 140 bux. But if the shaft is a different size guess its not going to work anyways.

It's not the shaft it's the turbine diameter itself. If you want the 10 bladed whistle you need to spend a little more cash.

The turbine creates the whistle not the compressor wheel.

Didnt realize that the turbine was a different size. Just thought it had 10 blades versus my 04 which I think has 12? 05 and up have 15. Paste this into the ebay search to see what im talking about. 2003 Ford Super Duty 6.0 V110 V8 Turbo 725390-1 1837984C91 Turbine&Shaft Wheel. The rebuild kit on ebay is also less than 60 bux.

Overall diameter is a tad different. You would need to send your current turbo out for the work to fit a 10 bladed turbine.
