Default Is my motor toast?!

Hello everyone,

I am new here, as well as to my 6.0. 2005, the truck currently has 158,000 miles purchased it almost exactly one year ago having 154'xxx miles so I obviously don't drive it much. When I bought the truck, the shop had just performed the EGR delete, changed oil cooler, oil filter and had to replace the turbo with a reman due to the bearings leaking. That being said, the truck drove and ran great for awhile besides the poor fuel mileage I was getting (8 mpg) that was in town. The truck started acting like it was missing a few months ago. I finally got it into ford to have them check it out, believing it to be an injector. Injector #6 had failed, I let them do the work. Picked my truck up 2 weeks ago put 20 miles on it in town, decided to take it on a 3 hour trip. Made it about 115 miles going up hill no load, truck does have sct live wire street tune on it stock heads straight pipe. So the truck starts to rattle and tap pretty loud, lost power. I pulled over and the truck died, I checked around the truck, nothing leaking, no smoke at this time, belt good, turbo lines and all in place. Tried to start the truck, well it rattled and cleared up some on the idle but rolled white smoke on the side of 35 like no other. I shut off the truck quickly, checked fluids no oil on the dip stick, the fluids were good when I left the house prior to the trip. Now dummy me was wanting to see if the truck would crank over again, so I went to start it and it wouldn't even turn the motor over at all. So after a flat bed and a tow, my truck is in another ford shop 3 hours from home. They are going to tell me the bad news this week when they pull it in. Does any one have an idea as to what may have happened?

might have popped a head gasket, when you shut it off it may have hydrolocked, motor is not toast. you can pull the glowplugs and then crank it over to get any water that may have leaked into a cylinder out. Replacing the head gasket with new Ford head gaskets/the best ones/ and new ARP head studs will cost about $1000 to do it yourself including a oil cooler rebuild, the dealer will probably charge you over $5000. Get some buddies together and have at it.

Thanks a lot, that is good to know. It gives me some peace of mind so I can at least sleep tonight.

Found out that the motor was hydro locked. Not due to a head gasket though. The ford dealer that had replaced my #6 injector did not get it tight which caused the fuel and oil to mix in the cylinder. A very inconvenient mistake on their behalf but I am just happy that it was nothing serious. The first dealer is paying the second dealer for all cost of repairs.
