Default 2004 Ford F450 XL Super Duty Degas Bottle Problems

Hey Guys!! Ive been having a long run in with the Degas Bottle Problem and not quite sure how to figure out whats wrong I ordered a test kit to test for Exhaust gases in the degas bottle.

This whole Issue started awhile back when the coolant was dissapearing quite frequently so I took it to my mechanic and he diagnosed a bad EGR Cooler, So i decided to go with the Delete to get rid of the Issue forever, No Coolant had dissapeared for months on end and now it seems the issue is lingering in my foot steps and has returned, It turns out something else is back i don't know if its just a cap or what, But its been using alot of coolant lately and Just today I filled it up and took it for a 20 mile spin hard pulls and light driving its loaded too approx weighting 14,000 Pounds right now, When I got home I opened up the hood and checked the Degas Bottle and noticed there was a little leaking from the cap and got a rag and gloves and slowly took it off to hear the coolant start to bubble up and the coolant level raised, Unsure of where to go from this direction really concerned and need this Truck for Work. Hopefully one of you guys can chime in and tell me some good news with a 70,000$ truck on the line.

Oh yeah I called my mechanic and he told me that it could be the Thermostat needs replaced, Thoughts?

try a new cap first, also when you first fire it up let it warm up for a minute or 2 then run it up to 1500rpm for a minute, then pull the cap off and see if it has alot of pressure or alot of foam, if so then it very well may be a head gasket. When a head gasket goes on these the combustion pressure enters the coolant system, it is different then gassers when they blow a head gasket.

Alright thanks dude im hoping it isnt a head-gasket but im going to try a new cap first.. Truck runs great and pulls hard I mean most people if its the head gasket a full throttle will blow coolant everywhere but tommarow ill get a new cap at the dealership, I got a test kit that will test for combustion gases in the coolant, no foam or white residue is near the cap or anything just it leaks out alot and no evidence of a leak that is hitting the ground which is why im thinking it might be head-gaskets, cause it did loose alot of coolant at a time it isnt right now.

get the new cap at advance auto parts if you have one near you, they are better then the Ford ones.

Oh Ok sweet! I was going to do that, Definely will now. Thanks for even better info.

It's given horrible reviews and I dont see how it could be better than OEM if it isn't even vented.

Buy Stant Cap Coolant Bottle 10238 at Advance Auto Parts

Well i did what you said, let it idle for 2 minutes then 1500 rpm for a minute or so then I opened cap there was no pressure but there was bubbles coming up from the bottom.

Im guessing i might need a new thermostat as i stated and a new cap?

Got a new cap and everything seems to be normal, just incase setup an appointment for the thermostat to be replaced so I can cover all bases.. if it comes back it has to be head-gaskets.
