Default Help diagnosing

Hey guys I have a question. I am buying a 2003 6.0l ford from a guy that said it came intoo his truck stop smoking real bad. I looked at it and the degas bottle iss brown. Is this an EGR, oil cooler? Just need some help diagnosing. The body is in great shape!

all degas bottles turn darker over the years, the key is to see if it has any oil in the degas bottle, that would mean the oil cooler ruptured.
smoking real bad or steaming real bad?? if it is steam then it is either egr cooler ruptured or a head gasket failed. if it is smoking real bad then it is probably a fault injector.

Question

How would I be able to tell if their is actually oil in it? Also when I get a key how would I be able to diagnose what it is by starting it? What all should I look for?

if its oil in the bottle should look like a gray milk shake. If its missing while running probly an injector bad. Pull the egr valve and see if its coolant soaked and look for coolant puddled up in the hole.
