Default 04 6.0 lost power will start and run

Hello, I'm new here I have 04 6.0 truck is all stock except for egr delete. I use this truck for pulling a single car trailer and is highway driven almost exclusively. 125,xxx miles
I fueled up and about 5-10 miles down the road the truck lost power and quit pulling. All guages were normal, no lights came on, it idles but barely moves when you push the accelerator. It will start up but does take a little longer than normal to start, seems to idle normal and I didn't see any smoke but it had been a long day and getting dark when this happened. I'm just looking for any suggestions. Thank you.

Sounds like you are in limp mode. Look the the recent posts and you should be able to get an idea on where to start. Sorry, I'm too new to be any more help.

That is the common symptom of dirty fuel filters, when is the last time both fuel filters were changed??

I'm not sure but guessing around 12-15 thousand miles since filters changed.

Might be time for them, if they are too nasty the truck will start and idle all day but won't rev trying to go down the road

I'll try that, I have a friend that is a truck driver and he mentioned filters also. Thanks I'll have the truck back Monday and try to change them. I had to leave it and it's 100 miles from home. Could there be codes in it with out a engine light on? I have a hand held OBD II scanner that I can hook to it but it never popped a light on.

You probably got some bad fuel as well, as in water in the fuel. Try servicing your water/fuel separator and changing the fuel filters. My previous truck was an 04 PSD and experienced the same issue after fueling up at a Walmart station, during vacation trip while pulling a travel trailer. I did a quick road-side fuel system service mentioned above, and that took care of the problem. Just tossing it out there.

Yeah since it happened after a recent fuel up I would suspect fuel issues too. Maybe water in the fuel, or even worse, gasoline on accident?

I would bring a new set of OEM fuel filters (international is ok) and a fuel pressure gauge you can hook up on the fuel bowl to be certain you have pressure too, the pump may have crapped out. I've had mine running in the driveway with the fuel pump physically unplugged (no power going to it at all) and it idled fine, but wouldn't move if I hit the throttle.
