Default type of performance chip?

Wanted to start off saying im new with diesel bombers and im new to having a diesel truck where as i do know quite a bit about them. When reading tons of everyones posts and pros and cons on different stuff i had a question come up. this week im wanting to put a chip into my 05 6.0 f350 and not sure which one will help me out. i either would like a spartan chip or an edge performance juice with attitude chip. now down the road i would like to do the egr delete and dpf delete so if i get a spartan chip it will help with dpf delete. true? hopefully someone had good info for me.

if i do get chip and egr delete would it best be worth it do upgrade my stock turbo or trans first when pushing more out of the truck. Not even sure whent he last time the turbo was cleaned or had barrings changed or anything on it just keeping that in mind. thanks guys.

Stay away from Edge unless you want to replace your trans. Get SCT best thing for 6.0s. Im sure everyone here will agree. It will also take away that code from the egr delete.

The only way to get the check engine light off after an EGR delete is a custom tuned SCT. It would be the only thing I would run anyways. Generic programmers are no bueno for your transmission. We have one of the best auto trannies available and the key to it's survival is good tuning (when you're talking about adding power, stock they're fine).

Last I knew Spartan didn't even do tuning for the 6.0's anymore, they gave away all of their tunes for free in a giant library. Stick with the reputable tuners.

You really don't want on the fly tuning. It only takes a few mins to swap tunes with sct.

No you can't. Anything that is on the fly shifting is garbage for a 6.0, as the transmission is physically incapable of taking adjustments on the fly, it needs to be shut down and reprogrammed.

An 05 should be under 2 minutes for a reprogram and most guys just leave a hot tune on anyways since they offer the best mileage. I only re-program when I'm hooking up my camper and that's it. I load my tow tune on and as soon as I park it, my gogo race with stock lock up is back on.

yeah fly tuning doesnt take much time but if i was to be on highway wanting to race someone id need to pull over to make adjustments? and also running high tune on SCT looking at the specs it doesnt offer as much hp or torq or mpg as a spartan would on that end of it. SCT is more reliable though so it definately a headache trying to find the right one for me.

now wat type of SCT tuner is better livewire TS performance programmer?

Custom tunes do offer big hp and tq gains. You are probably looking at the pre loaded tunes. You need to check out a few different custom written ones. Like Matt@ gearhead or Vivians Looney Wild at QuickTricks. As Mdub said Mostly everybody leaves race tunes on their trucks as daily driver.

You shouldn't be racing people on the highway anyways. Regardless, like I said you will most likely have your highest HP program loaded at all times anyways, they offer the best mileage if you can keep your foot out of it.

You can't go off the specs on SCT's website. You shouldn't be going off any specs on a website like that anyways, they're absurd. You want custom tunes, not the canned tunes that come on the SCT, they're about as useless as a generic programmer anyways. A custom tuned SCT 6.0 will be in the 420-430RWHP range with stock injectors and stock turbo.

Again, not sure how many more ways to say it, but I don't think Spartan is going to be helping you out. They're pretty big into the 6.4 scene now, and also carrying into the 6.7's. I don't even see anything on their site about power levels for a 6.0 tuned by them, am I missing something here?

They type of SCT you choose is up to you, based on what features you like, but as tuning goes they all hold the same tunes man...
