Look man, I did the 'on the fly tuner'. Hey, why not, it came with a monitor? Then I genaded the transmission. Why? Because that POS tuner didn't do anything for the trans. I don't care what anyone says, I tried and NOTHING CHANGED.

My daily driver tune is Gearheads SRL. This is considered a moderate tune and it went HALF A SECOND faster than Brand E's best 'tune' that I had to pay extra for. That should satisfy your "what if I want to race someone" quandry.

Read the threads, get the gauges, change the parts, plug in, tune up and enjoy the ride.

okay yeah im still up for opinions and options i like what everyone is throwing out. i am taking everyones post into consideration and nothing being thrown out. i still like the spartan 310 but the SCT ive been doing tons and tons of research on it. i like most of what i see and read. but some stuff seems very edgey and very dry when reading it. such as sending out one of SCT stock system out to get programmed when i recieve it but the only places i can send it to are out of country? idk. EDGE is officially off my list after seeing all these other options i have.

Why would you send a sct programmer out of the country? You buy the sct pull your engine and trans strategy. Contact who ever you want tunes from with those and all the mods done to the truck and what you would like. They email them to you and your set!

srry if it sounded offensive by me saying id race my friend on the highway but yes there is a professional race track like nascar track down the street and i have access to that so id run that on rare occasion so its not something id be doing often. i do understand the risks taken. i will be doing plowing this winter so most of the parts will also help in addition to that. but tuner is something very tricky and im trying to get all the opinions and help i can get on this one.

oh okay that makes sense tyvm yeah thats why i was getting lost while reading the manufactures info on SCT tunners on there website they were just saying send it out and pick from one of these dealers. all the dealers they had were not from us. so tyvm for the clearification on what they ment. im not familiar with the product only what ive been reading so its interesting. i think ima buy the TS tunner.

i have the following items inside my cart to check out by saturday night so ima keep looking but for right now this is what i intend to order. anything ealse that seems i would need with these. i believe the tunner will act as a DPF delete so think im good there. also i am converting my single stack to a double and from a 48" X 4" stainless steel pipe to a 48" X 5" black. think itll look nicer instead of black soot all over my stainless steel pipe .

- 6.0L Ford Powerstroke Diesel EGR Valve/Cooler Delete Kit
Item Number: SMC-EGRD-6.0
-Ford 6.0L Powerstroke AIRRAID Intake System for 03-07
Item Number: AIR-413-6.0
-Livewire TS Performance Programmer & Monitor
Item Number: SCT-5015

Don't bother with the intake, you're just wasting money, keep the stocker it's a GREAT unit, and at your power level it is more than sufficient. It's one of the best filtration setups out there.

Order your SCT from the tuner you wish to use. IE, if you want to use Innovative Diesel, call them up direct and order from them. They will include the custom tunes for free. If you buy the SCT from someone else, you're going to have to pay for tunes after... just keep that in mind.

I was just busting your ***** about racing on the highway, though we shouldn't be doing it, we know what happens, we're not idiots

The 310 spartan tune is for the 6.4 you're never going to get those kinds of gains from tuning alone on a 6.0. Again, custom tuned 6.0's fall in the 420-430rwhp range, and will run 13.8-14.2ish in the 1/4 depending on bed/cab configuration.

Call up Eric @ Innovative, or Matt @ Gearhead and tell them what you want to do and what you're doing with the truck, they'll hook you up with some good tunes.

You should also check with some of the sponsors here for other parts, like your EGR delete seutp.

Listen to Mdub and keep the stock intake. I wish I knew that before getting rid of it.

heyy man uve been the best of help so much good information and coming into this post knowing very little i think im getting a good grasp and understand how to do this right way. thanks again and ill call them tomorrow and buy the tuner and look at sponsors for egr delete.

i posted something a while back in this thread asking should i upgrade turbo or tranny first. think 6.0's have worse rating for turbos than trans even though wen im driving it kinda pops into second gear i can feel it in my foot petal.

Your trans will be fine as long as you don't do to many boosted launches and drive like you stole it all the time. Just plan on upgrading parts down the road if you plan to make more power. When was the last time you changed trans filter? Mine was never changed and trans went out. Fliters and fluid looked like anti-seize from all the metal shavings.

The stock trans should hold anything a tuner only can throw at it and should also hold up to a small injector/turbo upgrade without issue.... AS LONG as you're using good tuning, ie custom SCT tuning.

With that said, they're not indestructible, they can be broke if abused, I know this for fact.

I wouldn't even worry about the trans right now. Maybe upgrade to the 08 pan and filter setup and call it good.

Air intakes are a hottly debated subject. I won't hate on anyone for keeping their OEM filtration system, although I would recommend putting that restrictive air inlet cover in the shed. Putting in an Airaid filter didn't change anything other than I haven't needed to buy a filter in 6 years. However, taking that air inlet cover did net an mpg gain. Well' that and I have the Zoodad mod.
