Default 6.0 Help

Please Help, I have a 2004 F-350 with the Powerstroke 6.0l with 120,000. It is a daily driver and toy for me. I recently was driving up a hill around 55mph when I heard a bang and noticed smoke pouring out my stacks. I also noticed a loss of power. I pulled over and looked around the truck, I didnt see any fluids on the ground. I drove the 2 miles home with no power. 20mph floored, smoking away, turbo still spooling but not showing any boost. I had a friend check the obd2 and here is what he got, tc/sc underboost, egr insuff flow detected, egr performance, cyl 5 glow plug circuit, tc boost pressure not detected, icp too low. I pulled the egr which was black but not blocked, cleaned and replaced and still having same problem. I pulled the intake off, no visible oil on turbo along with no play in shaft. All of the veins look fine just a little black. Please Help, im lost!!!!

You probably just popped an intercooler boot. Did you check your intercooler connections? If they look "attached" remove them all and inspect them by hand. Do you have gauges? Tuner? If that's what happened and you were "flooring" it everywhere, that thing had to get scorching hot with all that fuel and no air...

I noticed that the boots looked like they slipped, maybe from to much pressure, or just shifted over time, Ill check and get back to ya. I do have a programmer in it, and only guages are rail pressure, boost and coolant temp. Thanks for the help!

Rail pressure? It's not a commonrail... you mean fuel pressure? What tuning are you using?

Definitely a boot popped off. No EGT gauge with a tuner? Playing with fire there! Let us know what you find out! Welcome to DB!

Im running the xzilliraider, its only been in for a month, and was going to buy an egt gauge this week. I just pulled the boots off and I think ive got a bigger problem then I thought. The boots are intact, no cracks. But I noticed oil in the pipes, in and out of the intercooler. I looked down into the back of the turbo and theres oil there. The turbo has no play in it at all??? Does this mean my turbo is shot?

All 6.0s will have oil in the piping and on the inside of the turbo, the vent tube from the valve cover goes directly inot the intake pipe right after the air filter, it is basically the PCV valve that all gas engines have. again nothing to worry about.
Do you have the plastic cooler pipe on the drivers side or a metal one? if its plastic I bet it split, Very common and most try to replace it with the metal one from a 03 or early 04, way better. it is definately a boot or the plastic pipe, takethe time and pull the boots and if they are good then clean them off with some brake clean and you can even use hair spray on them when you reinstall them to help hold them on better.

Ok im lost, I checked all boots and they look fine, put the truck back together and took it down the road, still no boost on the gauge, feels like the motor has the power, just wont go above 2000, and when it shifts from first to second it feels like it fights it, almost like the truck wants to stay in first. No smoke at idle but pours while driving????

check the MAP hose that comes off the pass side of the intake to the map sensor that is above and to the left of the turbo, it is a rubber hose covered in plastic wirewrap. That is the hose and sensor that show te boost to computer and guage.

Something had to of popped for it to do that... You heard a bang and all of a sudden no power and tons of smoke, that means it's missing a whole bunch of air from somewhere.... hmmm.

But boost gauge is coming up like normal on the dash???
