Default Sct questions

Ok I'm picking up an sct for my truck tomorrow that I found on cl for $200 it was used on an 06 6.0 and I have an 07. His truck was returned to stock and he says I should be able to plug it in to mine and tune with the canned tunes right away. Is this right? I plan on getting custom tunes soon but for now what are the canned tunes power levels? Also sct website says I can turn my egr off, Is this safe to do while I'm all stock temporarily until I can do a delete? I will also be getting a scan gauge II on payday next week wanted to do that first but can't pass up the sct for that price I don't think. Thanks to everyone in advance for your knowledge and help.

Just make sure it has unlocks left on it, otherwise you're sending it back to SCT and paying $150 for it. Have him also show you that it's back to stock too. Other than that it should be good to go. Not all of them have canned tunes, the livewire and the SF3 should, the X2 and X3 do not. The canned tunes are marginally good, I'd wait for the custom tunes myself. Turning the EGR function off really wont do a whole lot, but it wont hurt. It can still be blown open. It goes from 100% on to 95% off.

Thank you mdub I just got back with it and it was all unlocked and everything and works great so far. Can't wait for custom tunes but think I'll do oil cooler and egr deletes first

I'm not going to tell you to not do that, that's a good plan, but honestly you'll be fine with a tune for now. Call up Innovative and order a street tune (not the extreme version) and load it up. You'll love it. Should only be $65 for that tune too.
