Default Problems with head gaskets

I had a few problems on my Ford truck. The head gaskets were leaking antifreeze. It also had EGR system failures. I took it to a local auto repair shop in Placentia, CA called Orange County Studebaker and they did a pretty good fixing the problem. I found out that this seems to be a common problem with a lot of these trucks. Have they fixed this problem on the newer models yet?

Newer models? As in newer Fords, or just newer years of the 6.0? Nothing was ever really changed. The best fix is having the heads machined flat at a machine shop, and using ARP head studs to ensure it doesn't happen again. Simply doing headgaskets on un machined heads and using the crappy TTY bolts that Ford supplies will more than likely lead to the same issues. On a stock truck, this isn't that big of a deal, and the chances of blowing gaskets is greatly reduced (although not impossible) but on a truck running some hot tunes, the chances are almost inevitable. Unless you drive like an old lady.
