Fill the tank. After the pump handle clicks off, pull the nozzle out a little so you can see the fuel going into the tank. SLOWLY keep filling. You need to fill until you see fuel resting in the neck. It will keep filling up quickly and then settle back down, just be patient, this will take you 10 minutes or so to get those last few gallons in. Once the fuel is in the neck, resting steady, then reset your odometer and go for a drive. After you've run the tank down, refill the SAME way. This is the ONLY way to ensure you're getting the same amount of fuel in each time. When the pump clicks off you could have quite a variance, depending on how much the fuel is foaming up inside. Could be off 2-5 gallons at a time. The lie-o-meter is not to be trusted, at least until you calculate by hand to verify. When you refill the same way again, just take miles driven and divide by gallons put into the tank. We just need to make sure the fuel is filling up to the same starting point each time. It's a royal PITA.

Yes and no, to both questions.
Truthfully, the only thing that damages them (on the fuel side anyways) is running them too low on pressure. As long as pressure is up, it's fine. Does anyone know where the point in their tank is when the truck starts actually sucking air and running out of fuel? Not really, but we don't want to find out either. I know a bunch of guys who fill when they get to 1/4. My buddy's 05 that he used to own would run out of fuel when it said 100 miles to empty, so in his case he would always fill at 1/4 tank. I run mine down to the E mark and even have the low fuel light come on all the time, but I also have a fuel pressure gauge.
Installing the fuel pressure regulator upgrade isn't a bad thing in any way, though it's not going to cure a tank running low on fuel, know what I mean?

I try to make sure I run down until the it at E every chance I can... In my twisted head this ensures me that I am keeping the tank as clean as I can. In our big rigs when a driver runs them dry it ALWAYS plugs the filters with crap from the tanks. My thinking is, that if i run them down regulary what little is built up gets sucked into the filter. Yes, the 1st time you do this it could clog your filter that is why I do this on the 1st tank in every used car I buy. I always change filter and fluids when I buy a vehicle so this is part of my preventitive maintainence... Sounds stupid but, just in case "she" (wife) runs it dry one day all she should need is a couple of gallons and a good slap!

Mdub707 going from SCT's extreme street to there Tow+50 tune really sucks the truck felt really sluggish and he mileage was like I was in limp mode. Does innovative have a better tune for towing?
