You dont need to pull the cab with a 6.0, it's just easier to do. On the trucks, a good tech can have the cab off in 45 minutes. The excursion is only two more chassis bolts and the tail lights need to be unplugged. Not all that terrible really. You can still pull the motor out if you need to, just easier to leave the motor in place and pull the cabs.

I hear that the cab is easy to get off. I just always manage to have to much stuff in my shop to get anything else in it so I end up working in the driveway. I also don't have a 2 post lift and I would have to take a lot of steroids to lift the body off one of them.

With a 7.3 I just think I could sleep better at night.

That's my problem. No lift and not wanting to have to depend on someone else to get the jobs done.

Thanks again.

7.3 it is I think

On the other hand 6.0 models seem to be going for less than 7.3 models with similar miles on them.

Very true. Thats kind of what has slowed me on the look for the Excursion. I wan't one with a 7.3 but they want a fortune for them. I guess that tells you what the owners of 7.3 powered Excursions think of there ride. Don't get me wrong I still want one bad just waiting to find the right deal.

I went out and bought a gasser Ex with a bad engine to do a cummins swap for this reason. I can build one with a cummins for less than I can buy a 7.3 one for. To me the cummins is easier to work on and also gets better fuel economy.

I agree but my wife won't let me put a Cummins in one even though I told her it would be cheaper she just don't seam to like the Cummins and I am not going to make her drive something she don't like.
